Memorial Day Weekend

 

We were lucky to spend Memorial Day weekend with both of our families this year.  We took our annual trip to Hyrum, UT to place flowers on Randi's grandparents' grave.  BJ, grandma and grandpa Norton, Joe and Bonnie, LaWayne, and Wes and Ashurity and their family all came too.  Do you think Grandpa was excited to see Alden? :)

 

While BJ was here we asked him to take a family picture of us and we think this one turned out pretty good.

That was Saturday.  On Sunday Alden turned 4 months old and we headed to Strawberry Reservoir for some camping with Cassidy's parents.

So Alden did a lot of this while we played cards in the trailer.

It was also a little chilly at night even in the trailer so Alden got bundled up.  This hat is for 6-9 months and barely fits him.  That is our boy with a head circumference in the 92 percentile :)

Monday morning it was warming up, but still a little chilly for little boys so Alden got bundled up to go outside.

Cass and his dad headed down to the reservoir on Monday when it warmed up, for a little fishing.  They stocked the lake with about 300 tagged fish and if you caught one you got a prize.  The grand prize fish is worth $25,000.  Unfortunately neither one of them came home with that fish.  We had a fun time even if we couldn't get out much and are very excited for the official start of summer :)

Eclipse But Not Twilight

 

Sunday we were all excited to watch the  eclipse with the free glasses we got at BYU the day before, but before the eclipse happened we took a trip out to the cemetery with Cassidy's family to put flowers on graves for Memorial Day.  Alden was named after Cassidy's grandfather so we wanted a picture of him at his gravesite.   Then it was on to some staring at the sun!

Ohh! Ahh!   Yeah!  It was an impressive site and I think we look appropriately amazed

Alden didn't care for the solar viewing glasses too much so he just wore his regular sunglasses instead.

We couldn't get a good picture of the eclipse itself, but some neighbors were looking at it through a telescope reflected n to a sheet of paper.  It was awesome to see we can't for Venus to pass in front of the sun next month so we can pull out our super cool shades again :)

When Grandpa and Grandma Come to Town

 

Continuing with our busy week Grandma and Grandpa Norton came to visit on Friday.  We were excited to actually have events planned to entertain them.  On Friday afternoon we took advantage of the free admission to Kennecott's Bingham Canyon Copper Mine.  There is a museum with a video about the mine, a viewing area to see the gianormous hole and trucks in action, and a tire from one of the haul packs so you can see just how big the trucks are.  We went out to the mine when we were dating and took our picture with the tire so we had to get another family shot this time too.

Then on Saturday we drove down to BYU to attend their Astrofest.  It was a free event that had a lot of  activities dealing with space such as building your own rockets  and then launching them with compressed air, free shows in the planetarium, and getting to look through their research telescope.  Here is a group shot in the dome for the telescope.

Hopefully they don't expect us to have so many activities planned for their trip over or we are in trouble :)

2 Years and Terry

The last week was filled with a lot of exciting events.  Starting on Monday we got to hang out with Randi's cousin Terry who was in town from Oregon for work.  He wanted to meet the man-child so we went out to dinner with him and LaWayne.  I think they liked each other :)   And I think Applebees was happy when we left the booth after 3 and a half hours :) 

Then on Tuesday Cassidy and Randi celebrated our 2nd anniversary.  I use the term celebrated loosely we cleaned the car and then had what could also be mistaken for a 10 year old birthday party; ice cream and bowling followed by Wendy's!  We did go out for a nice lunch and we were totally excited about bowling because it was free except for our shoe rentals.  

Alden slept through 2.5 games of bowling, but when he woke up he also wanted to play so Cassidy held him like this.  Surprisingly he bowled 2 strikes in a row.  We are going to sign Alden up for a bowling league already :)

Although it was nothing too fancy (we did that over the weekend) it was nice to spend a day in the middle of the week together.  It has been an amazing 2 years and we can't wait for what is to come.

2 Years In Moab

On May 15th we are going to be celebrating our two year anniversary.  For this year we dropped Alden off in Springville with Cassidy's parents and took off towards Moab Utah. First we went about 50 miles past Moab to Monticello, Utah were we did a session in the LDS temple there.

After visiting the temple we went back up to Moab to hike around Arches National Park. Then Sunday morning we headed back home.  While we did not stay to long in Moab we had a good time spending time with one another. Here our a few pictures of our trip.

Defeated

The Jazz may be out of the playoffs, but that doesn't mean we didn't get excited to cheer for them anyway.  Look at this team spirit :) 

Idaho Family Fun

 

Alden turned 3 months old last week and to celebrate we went to Idaho!  Ok we didn't go to Idaho to celebrate Alden we went to celebrate Samantha, our niece that was blessed.  It was a really fast trip, but we were able to see a lot of family in the day and a half that we were gone. 

Isn't he getting so big!  I can't believe how much he grew in the last month.

We stayed Saturday night with our cousins Wes, Ashurity, Kendell, and Piper.   Piper loved playing with Alden.  She kept saying he likes me he is...  Alden was holding her hands at this point and this is how he showed Piper that he liked her.

 The two cousins played on their tummies together.  Ok it really lasted about 30 seconds before Alden had enough tummy time and Samantha looked at him like what is with that kid :)

 And finally on the way back to American Fork we stopped in Pocatello and let Great Grandma Norton enjoy some one on one time.  She loved getting to feed him and just rock him as he slept.  It was so cute!  We will have to make more of an effort to go visit more often.
