Weekend in Vegas Part 2

Now that we have teased you with what we did in Las Vegas here is the real story:

The guys adventure started off by going out to Hoover Dam to see the newly constructed Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. This awesome bridge gives you a great view of the Hoover Dam at 900 feet above the Colorado River.

After spending some time on the bridge we drove the little ways to walk across the dam its self. Even after driving or walking across the dam several times, i still love it and see one of the great engineering structures of the 1930's.

After spending a few hours out at the dam we made the trip back to Las Vegas to lunch and then to a pawn shop on Las Vegas Blvd. For those who have ever watch Pawn Stars on the History Channel well this is that pawn shop. For those who have not seen the show (you should watch it) you are able to see some great artifacts of history like 200 year old muskets and great Americana pieces.

We then made our way down to the Imperial Car show to see some rare classic cars from all over the world.

Our last stop we made was Fremont street to watch one of the shows (we watched animation with George Thorogood music).

After the show we congregated around a street magician where Curtis, Randi's cousin, was volunteered to help in picking out the correct card.

Our last activity on Fremont street Cassidy, BJ, Curtis, and Rudy all took a trip down a zip line that span several blocks down the street, it was a blast. Although you can't see him very well this is BJ on the zip line.

When it was all done it was a great weekend spent with the guys. We are so grateful we got to go and spend time with Randi's grandfather before he passed away on Tuesday.

So why the boys went and played Jamie and Randi got to spend the day pampering themselves. This is how excited we were to ditch the boys in the parking lot of Jamie and Rudy's apartment. After this we went and did a little Christmas and baby shower shopping.

Then we met up with my friend Shawna for lunch. It was fun to catch up on things with her. I haven't seen her since I got married.

Then Jamie and I went for pedicures. We didn't get a picture or our toes, but use your imagination. Then we did a little grocery shopping before going home to do facials and watch a chick flick. No pictures of that because we don't want to get made fun of.

On Sunday we were headed back to good ol' American Fork. We had heard about a storm so we left a little earlier than planned. Things were going fine until we hit Beaver, UT. The snow started, but nothing that bad. We made it about 10 miles out of town and this is what we ran in to.

We tried to make the best of not moving and not knowing why. Here is a picture of us chillin in the car. At least we weren't really cold.

And two hours later this was the scene. In case you can't tell we haven't moved. There is definitely more snow though. A few minutes later we started to move, but we didn't make it far. We went about half a mile to an exit where we were directed to turn around and head back to town. By the time we made it to Beaver all the hotels were full so we drove another 50 miles backwards to Cedar City to spend the night. We still have no idea why the 30 mile stretch of freeway was closed.

This is where we finally ended up. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. After a hot breakfast it we hit the road again and this time made it home with no problems. Although it was frustrating at the time we did enjoy the extra night of vacation and are happy that we made it home safely.

Weekend In Vegas

We just wanted to share a few photos of our weekend in Las Vegas. The only problem is what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

We Made A Difference

It's been a while since we posted so when we got stickers yesterday that say I Make a Difference who could pass up a blog entry. For Veterans Day we went to a blood drive. This is the first time we have ever gotten stickers and they personalized them with our names :) Hopefully everyone else had a fantastic Veteran's Day as well and thank you to all of the men and women who have given their service to protect our freedoms.

My New Fashion Accessory

During my time off from work to get married they measured everyone for stab vests. About a month ago the officer's vests arrived and the therapist heard nothing, but complaining about how uncomfortable and hot they were. We lived in fear for about a week wondering when ours would show up and we would be doomed to the same fate. Well after one and then two we started to think that we were forgotten and no one was willing to speak up. Yesterday morning in staff meeting our luck ran out and each of us was given one of these. It is not as hot and uncomfortable as I thought it would be, but it definitely makes you look about 20 pounds heavier :) Anyway keep your fingers crossed because I don't think this will really do much good if anyone ever really tried to stab me. Still everyday I am amazed that I have ended up at a place where stab vests are part of the uniform.

Halloween and More

Here are some pictures from our Halloween celebration this year. It wasn't anything very big, but we had a good time spending the day together (with two full time jobs and full time school this is a rare occurrence). After carving our pumpkin we watched the World Series and ate pizza. What could be better?

I let Cass chose between a spider and Mickey Mouse for our pumpkin. I was pretty surprised that he picked Mickey, but I think that it turned out so cute.

Our neighborhood put on a trunk or treat in the col-de-sac across the street from out apartment. the flier said bring a wagon or wheel barrow to set up your spot and there would be hot dogs and hot chocolate. We were pretty excited and borrowed a wagon and everything. About half an hour before it was to start the skies opened up and began to POUR rain. We are talking a lot of rain. We didn't have an umbrella big enough or kids that really wanted to go so we stayed home, but this is what everything looked like all ready to go. Hopefully next year the weather will cooperate because now we just have a big bowl of candy for the two of us to eat (and we are doing a good job at it).

Earlier that day (we celebrated on Saturday because it is Utah and with all of the mormons...) our friends Mike and Sarah got married in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple. Our camera was dead so this is the only picture I got, but it was a really nice ceremony and we are so happy for them even if we all look like midgets next to Cassidy :)

And finally, I decided a while ago that I wanted to learn how to make my own bread. My friend Angela gave my a recipe for only 2 loaves that was pretty easy. I made my own bread for the first time last week and loved it! It tasted so good hot out of the oven and of course made our apartment smell fantastic! I can't wait to do it again.
