Me and Randi have a goal to do a session in all of the LDS Temples throughout Utah. This last Saturday we took a three hour drive out to the Utah Vernal Temple. For those who don't know this temple was converted from a tabernacle that was built in 1907, so it is rather small compared to most others. We both had a really good time and enjoyed our session.
After driving another three hours back home to American Fork we had a good friend ask us if we wanted to go to the Lehi Rodeo Saturday night. Once again we had a blast watching everything from bareback riders, team roping, and of course bull riding.
Some cowboys and cowgirls these days apparently don't just ride horses and bulls but motorcycles also, I still don't understand how it applies to rodeos.
As most of you know Jamie is getting married in August ans with the rest of the family taking a two week vacation in July we had to do her bridal shower earlier than normal so June 12 we partied down. This worked out great because mom was already in Las Vegas for work and I brought LaWayned down from Utah with me. Friday night we went out to eat to celebrate BJ's birthday and LaWayne's that was earlier in the week.
We went to the cheescake factory and since we opened presents at the table when they brought out desert BJ and LaWayne's looked like this. Saturday it was time to party! We took pictures of Jamie with all her guests and I put together a scrapbook of the party for her. Trying to be crafty like Liz and Louis, but I think I still have a long ways to go.
I only included pictures of Jamie with the family members sorry if you wanted to see someone else. And no they did not plan to match it just sort of happened.
Here are some of the gifts Jamie got. The shower was a movie theme so Jamie got to open the present and then try to guess what movie it went with before she opened the movie. There was a picture of her with a movie that she got, but I accidentally deleted it and my patience is gone to try and put it back where I want it. I like the flower look :)
One of the activities was to make collages of what Jamie and Rudy's life will be like. This is their house and in case you can't see very well the foundation is physical intimacy which totally embarrassed Jamie. Other topics were a page on Jamie, one on Rudy, the honeymoon, their kids, and general family life like pets, toys, etc. I hope you had a good time Jamie because I did.
We decided to take our honeymoon in beautiful Denver Colorado. We both had a blast exploring the area and spending time with one another. We did run into a few problems while in Denver like sharing the zoo and Elitch Gardens with all the school kids on their end of year field trips, also a few stupid teenagers at our hotel. On Monday we started out with our trip to the Denver Zoo. We got to see all sorts of animals from the African Elephants to exotic fish from all over the world. Randi was able to see her Flamingos up close and I got to see the apes active.
After the zoo we were off to Golden Colorado to the Coors Brewery. Most are wondering why two Mormons went to a brewery when they don't drink, well we didn't drink any beer that was offered. It was interesting to see how beer is made. One of the funny things that happened on our self guided tour is when we started there was about 15 people with us and about half way through there was only us, everyone else just hurried to the end for their free beer.
Tuesday Randi and I made the trip down to Colorado Springs where we first explored the Garden of the Gods, which are some beautiful red rock formations. After our walk through the garden we went to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings.
These partly reconstructed Native American dwellings that are about 800 years old. It was both fun and interesting to walk through the ruins and learn a lot about Pueblo culture and Architecture.
After having a little trouble we made it to the COG rail train depot where we took an hour and a half ride to the top of Pikes Peeks. For two people enjoying their honeymoon at 5 to 6 thousand feet we were a little unprepared with hoodies at 14,000 feet. When we reached the peak the conductor of the train stated that the temperature was 25 deg. outside without the windchill factored in, just a little cold from the 70 deg weather of the valley below.
After quickly moving inside to the gift shop we got some doughnuts and a hot chocolate to build our confidence to go back outside for a photo. In moving across the snow and ice to the overlook Randi slipped and spilt the hot chocolate all over her. From her head to her feet one side of her body was soaked in hot chocolate, which did not help with the temperature. Once we got our picture taken we quickly went back inside til our train departed back down the hill.
On Wednesday we went to the Denver Temple to do an endowment session. We both enjoyed doing something that is not part of the main attractions.
After relaxing a little while at our hotel we were off to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science where we went to Body Wolds exhibit on the heart (I felt like I was taking anatomy class all over again). We both found it very interesting and educational.
Since we were already at the museum we decided to take a look around at the different exhibits that they had. The best exhibit we found was the planetarium where they had a bunch of games like docking a space shuttle (its harder than it looks) and use radio waves to find objects buried in sand.
Thursday morning we went to the Lagoon of Denver, Elitch Gardens. It is an amusement park right in downtown. We hit the main roller coasters first and had a blast until we both got incredibly nauseous after the fourth ride. We then had pizza and lots of water, hit the Ferris Wheel and left.
Since we were already downtown we went to Coors Field to see where the Rockies play. We were really disappointed that they were on the road the entire week were there.
Friday morning we had to head back to reality, but on our way out of town we stopped to see where Buffalo Bill is buried. The grave is overlooking the city of Denver. It was a nice stop before our 8 hour drive back to Utah. Too bad you can't have two honeymoons because we really did have a great time.
Warning there are a lot of pictures on this post. We are not conceited, but we did pay a lot for them so... We got married on May 15, 2010 in the Manti, Utah Temple. It was a beautiful day as you can see in the pictures.
Funny note in the ceremony the sealer kept getting us mixed up thinking that Cassidy was Randi and Randi was Cassidy. After the ceremony we had a luncheon at the Old Manti House which was delicious especially the cheesecake :) Then it was back to Springville for a reception that night.
There were a ton of people there and we didn't get a break in the line the whole night. And while we were busy doing that Cassidy's brothers and cousins were destroying our car.
It was seran wrapped with helium filled condoms attached to the spoiler, KY jelly on the door handles, and inside was packed with shredded paper and a couple condom wrapped Twinkies.
It was a great day and we are grateful so many of our friends and family were able to share it with us.
The two of us met on August 8, 2009 on a blind date. Cassidy's cousin Heather works with me and set us up. Cassidy loves baseball so we went to a Salt Lake Bees game. At the end of the game we had talked so much that Cassidy didn't even know the game was over (it probably helped that the Bees were losing terribly so the game wasn't that exciting to watch). When he dropped me off at home right after the game I thought I would never see Cassidy again because he told me to call him and it was not in my character to call and ask boys out. However a couple of weeks later after we had both been on vacation Cassidy called and asked me if I wanted to go jet skiing with him and another cousin. We went and even though I was disgusting because I had just run a half marathon and did not have time to shower in between. After that we went shooting the next weekend where again I made myself look like an idiot because I decided not to wear the ear protection and went deaf. Cassidy had to yell at me for the rest of the date. The next weekend we went hiking after I had run a marathon relay so again I was gross. Why did Cassidy hang around? Next was Cassidy's birthday so I brought him pie after minimal freaking out. That weekend we went to the Deirks Bentley and Brad Paisley concert where Cassidy finally held my hand. After that we were pretty much inseparable. I would drive down to Orem after work because I was living in Salt Lake at the time. Our first kiss was my first kiss and I made a terrible fool of myself yet again when I blurted out that I had never kissed a boy before as he was pulling away. But in the end Cassidy found my sweat and embarrassment charming and he surprised me by driving to Elko the day after Christmas and proposing. It was very romantic. He showed up with a big bouquet of flowers and then we went for a drive on a dirt road before he got out of the car and down on one knee in the snow. Of course I said yes and hopefully from the title of the blog you know the rest. Here are some pictures from when we were dating.
