Spring Break/Conference Weekend

 We had a busy week at our house preparing for and enjoying spring break.  During spring cleaning Alden found the vacuum and loved to do this. 

 Luckily his lip went back to how it is supposed to look and the house got cleaned just in time for the Garcia's to come for a visit. Jamie's family showed up Thursday night and was able to stay until Tuesday.  We had so much fun while they were here that it was hard to narrow down the pictures. First stop was Discovery Gateway. The kids love it and Rudy had never been.

 This house got destroyed getting Jonathan out so only one boy got a photo, but we had fun trying to rebuild it.

 The next morning the dads took their sons to Home Depot to build bird feeders. Both boys did awesome with the hammers.

 That afternoon we all went to the BYU Museum of Art for their Sacred Gifts exhibit. This exhibit has pictures of Christ from 3 different European artists and for several of the paintings this is their first time in the United States and many believe there will never be an exhibit like this again. It was beautiful and a nice way to remind us why we celebrate the upcoming holiday of Easter.

 Because we were on BYU campus we had to stop by the creamery for some delicious ice cream.

 The men had to leave part way through ice cream to get home and changed for the Priesthood session of General Conference.  After they left we loaded up the boys and hit Desert Book for Ladies Night. Everything is 20% off during the two hours, the first 100 people get a free prize, there is drawings and free food, and the authors of our favorite cookbook were there with their new cookbook signing autographs so what could be better? We stood in line for about an hour and were in the first 15 people in the door. We got our books signed, I won a free book, and we overall had a delightful time.

 I mentioned earlier this was conference weekend. With two, two year old boys we weren't sure how much we would be able to pay attention to what our Prophet and other church leaders were telling us until we found this fun idea on pintrest. We bought some plastic eggs taped pictures of the apostles and first presidency on them then filled them with treats. When ever one of these men spoke the boys got pick the egg with their picture on it and eat the treat inside. It worked great. The boys loved conference (or at least the food) and every time they got an egg they would run to the TV to see if the picture matched the speaker. It was so cute.

 On Monday I had to work for part of the day so Cass entertained (or made them work), but when I got home we loaded up the boys and went to near by place called Kangaroo Zoo. It has tons of giant inflatables and the boys had a blast.  After an hour they were so worn out I don't know if they could have stood up much longer.  Here are some pictures of just a couple different things they have there.

 This is the tallest inflatable and Jonathan went right over and started climbing up. Alden followed him and got about half way up and got stuck. We had to send Rudy to help him the rest of the way, but the boys still loved it, Jonathan went down twice.

Somewhere during the weekend we decided to try out our new cookbook and made homemade chocolate cake, rolls, and cinnamon rolls. The boys sure do like to cook. We had to split every ingredient in half so both could have a turn putting stuff in the bowl.

While we were finishing up the cake Jonathan got in trouble had to go sit on the couch. Alden immediately got down off his chair went in the other room and got Jonathan his juice box, then climbed up on the couch next to him. It was so cute. These boys are such good friends, all weekend they followed each other around, copied each others noises and just asked about the other one when he wasn't around. I hope this is a lifelong thing.

Sunday afternoon while we were waiting for Rudy's sister and husband to come over Cass helped get a little energy out.  They loved wrestling like this.

And these next two pictures are just to show what happens when you leave Jamie and Rudy alone too long. Cass and I are early to bed early to rise people, Jamie and Rudy are night owls so most nights we would go to bed and leave Jamie and Rudy to entertain themselves. Here is what they came up with.

Doing handstands to see if they can touch the ceiling in the basement with their feet. Jamie is a little shorter so she needed a few pillows to help her get there, but she did it.

Monday night I said good bye before I went to bed because they were going to head out after breakfast on Tuesday. On my way to work though the car made some noises and then died as I made it to the shoulder. Cass came and got me, but it was dark and cold so we went home to wait for it to get lighter to go back and get the car. Luckily Jamie brought my dad's truck so we were able to tow our Subaru home with that (if you look closely in the picture you can see the tow rope) and Jamie and Rudy were kind enough to watch Alden while we were taking care of the car so I got to spend a little more time with them, Hooray! (unfortunately the Subaru blew a rod and is totally dead)
