A 5K and Some Family Fun

 At the end of August Jamie was here for doctor's appointment with Jarom and decided she would be willing to participate in a 5k with us. This was a fundraiser to help with the medical bills for a guy a work with whose wife was battling cancer for the second time (I say was because since then her scans have come back clean with no signs of cancer anymore).  Not one of us did any sort of running or training for this so it might have been more of a fun brisk walk, but we certainly enjoyed ourselves.

It was really windy when it started so a couple of the boys had a blanket, but Alden is too tough for that.

We borrowed the double jogging stroller and all got to take turns pushing it. Turns out adding 45 pounds to push really does make it harder to run.

 Along the trail we saw this deer standing next to some old cars in the stream, and of course the natural thing to do when you are having a fun walk instead of running is to stop and take a picture.

 These two slept through a lot of the 5k, but woke up when we took this picture to show how cute it was for them to hold hands.

 No worries Alden didn't feel lonely without a riding companion thanks to Aunt Jamie.

 This is us running across the finish line, we did run some of it. In fact Cass ditched the girls and ran the second half so he was at the finish line to take our picture. Most fun I ever had "running" a 5k.

 These next pictures are just things showing what life is like with a 2 year old. None of them have a long enough story to write an entire post about, but I want to remember these times when Alden is all grown up and we have more children.

First ever family movie night. He was so excited for rootbeer floats because there is pop and ice cream.

One morning he made me play under his car container for almost 20 minutes because our voices sound different.

For Labor Day we taught him how to work. He had fun washing the car for about 10 minutes then wanted to go inside.

One day while we were making dinner he walked in like this handed Cass the camera and said cheese so...

Finally this is hard to see, but Alden has started getting up and doing other things quietly before he comes and finds us in bed. One Friday I got woken up to the sound of the camera going off and then he shut the door and ran away laughing.

We love our little boy and are so grateful for how kind and obedient he is. Can't remember what life was like without him and honestly I don't want to because it is so much better with him.
