BYU Football!!!!!

We try to attend at least one BYU football game a year.  This year we were not lucky enough to get seats as good as the ones we have had the last couple of years, but it is ok because we got free dinner in the alumni tent (where we saw Robbie Bosco!)and then LaWayne, Alden and I were able to go down on the field before the game.

We also ran in to the Cougarettes.  They thought Alden was so cute and were more than willing to have a picture with him.  He wasn't so excited though.  He will think differently in about 13 years.

Alden was not as interested in the team as LaWayne and I were.  I wanted to play with the net that catches the field goals and the rope that kept us from going in the end zone where the players were.

After our fun on the field we met up with Cass at our seats.  It was cold that night so we all bundled up.  Alden loved sitting by himself on the bench in front of us. 

Wide awake and happy the first half and out like a light the second.  He slept through the entire second half.  He is such a good kid and we are so spoiled to be able to take him pretty much anywhere.

National Kidney Walk

Sherrie and I decided to do a 5k last year, but it never happened so this year we made it happen.  We chose the National Kidney Foundation Walk because I have a friend that is very involved in planning and putting on the event.  Cass, Chris and Alden came to support us and see if we won any prizes at the raffle (we got baby leg warmers and a flower head band, hopefully one day we will have a little girl). Unfortunately the three boys forgot to take any pictures of us running so here is what they did to pass the time while we were completing the 5k.

It was at Wheeler Farm in Salt Lake so they played with the animals.  The ducks loved the bread Alden gave them.

Thanksgiving dinner?

He was not too fond of the bigger animals like sheep and cows.

But he did love the tractor.

 

 Maybe next time we will get pictures of what we actually came for,but at least the boys weren't bored :)

Labor Day in Elko

Jamie blessed her new baby Jarom over Labor Day weekend in Elko so we headed to Nevada to celebrate.  It was fun to be with all of the Nortons and the Garcias.  We spent some time at the park.  These two boys play so well together and are quickly becoming best buds.

Along with blessing Jarom Jamie decided to celebrate Jonathan's second birthday a little early since all of the family was there.  He was extra spoiled and ended up with 2 pinatas.  This worked out nicely for the adults because there was a kids pinata and an adult pinata.  I don't know if I have ever seen adults fight so hard to get candy before.  It was so funny to watch and be a part of.

After pinatas it was time for cake! Jonathan is really  in to Mr. Potato Head right now so grandpa Norton made him this super cool cake. Judging from the look on his face I think he liked it.

He also liked blowing out the candle.  He didn't even let us finish singing to him.

Sunday evening we took family pictures.  Here is one with all of the Nortons.  BJ is a great brother to always take pictures when we ask.  We had a pretty relaxing weekend and decided it was a great way to end the summer.

The Petersons Come for a Visit!

A couple of weeks ago Jason and Laura and Sam came for a visit from Idaho Falls. They also have Pass of All Passes so it just made sense to go do some free activities together.  We started with the batting cages and it was pretty fun with almost everyone getting a turn.

Dane broke his bat on his first hit.  This is all that was left.

Jason!

Randi, this was my first time in a batting cage and I didn't do too bad as long as I stayed with the slow pitch soft balls.

Cass also had a couple of turns, but sadly no pictures made it on the blog.  While the grown ups played the little ones entertained themselves with the extra helmet.

After batting it was time for some more mini golf.  Alden did great on the first couple of holes and then got bored with the sport.

So he and Sam played in the water features.

The rest of us did respectably terrible, but still had fun. And then headed to dinner for Cass' birthday. 

End of Summer Activities

We went to a lot of baseball games in August.  Our Pass of All Passes get us in to every home game of the Orem Owlz for free.  August is the end of their season so we went to at least one game a week.  We were there in rain and shine and walked away with 2 home run balls.  Alden doesn't really watch the game yet, but he does love playing in the grass.  And entertains himself well enough that we can watch most of the games.  We sure do love this cute little guy!

We also hit the Springville splash pad one more time in the beginning in September.  Alden loves the water and had a blast here.

And of course we had to hit Home Depot Days for our free project.  We were on our way to the Splash Pad though so we just picked up the kit and took it with us.  This worked out great because then Grandpa and Treygann helped Alden put it together.

We will miss so many fun summer activities, but I am sure we will find some way to stay busy in the winter too :)

Last Day with Treygann

As mentioned Cass watched Treygann this summer and for his last day we decided to take our Pass of All Passes and have some fun at Trafalga.  There is a rock wall that Treygann was so excited to climb, but decided all three times that half way was high enough and he better come down.

 

After climbing we headed out to miniature golf.  Cass showed Treygann the proper technique for putting. 

And then Treygann did awesome, I think he got a hole in 2.

We finished up with water boats.  Cass was so upset with this ride because he is too tall.  You can shoot water at the other boats and if you are a kid it mostly goes over top of you, but if you are an adult it hits you right in the chest/face area.  He was soaked when they got off, but Treygann loved it.

We had a good time with Treygann and hope we get the opportunity to hang out with him again.

Family Time

In the middle of August we had a weekend where we were able to spend time with both sides of our family.  Jamie and my parents came to visit now that Jamie lives in Elko and we needed to meet Jarom.  The older boys had a great time playing together all weekend.

And Alden warmed up to Jarom after a while and learned how to interact with babies.

The same weekend Cass was able to head down to Axtel Utah with the men from his family to spend time with his aunt and uncle.  They had fun shooting on the private firing range, barbecuing, and talking.   Here are pictures of most of them shooting.

We are blessed to have families that enjoy spending time together and live close enough for us to get together often.  Hopefully things will stay this way for a long time to come.
