Halloween 2014

A couple weeks before Halloween we were in Elko for fall break. I was so excited about Alden's costume I took it with us to show my family and we decided as long as we were there to have all three boys do a practice run for Halloween night because the older ones didn't do awesome last year. So we had people hide behind all of the doors in my parent's house and give out candy. All of the boys caught on very quickly about what to do and Halloween was a success.

Both of our works did Halloween parties for families. The prison had their activity on the 22nd. Each suite in the administration decorated their offices and had the kids come trick or treating and do other activities.  Here are some pictures of the different office areas.

 On Halloween we went down to the Junior High and Trick or Treated to all of the different classrooms. Teachers had the option to decorate their doors so of course I made Cass do his. Here is our masterpiece (thank you pintrest).

 We were lucky to have Sam and Jason in town for Halloween so they came with us to the school and later that night to trunk or treat. It was so fun to see the difference between the two kids, Sam would grab as much candy as she could and run to the next room while Alden would sit and study all of the options before making his choice.

 Once Halloween was over it was time to move on to Thanksgiving. During the day Cass' cousin Heather watches Alden and she does amazing. Alden brought this home one day and loved it. We couldn't do anything with it until it rotted and had to be thrown out. We are so grateful to have a good place for Alden to spend the days and even more grateful it is with family.

Jaker's

We enjoyed an incredibly warm fall this year and tried to take advantage of it in every way possible. There is a little pumpkin patch play area that goes up every year just down the street from Cass' parent's house and I just discovered this year that it is free so of course we had to check it out. Alden loved it! There was a couple of mazes, some slides, a tractor ride, petting zoo, and pumpkin patch.  

Alden played on these slides for almost 45 minutes and probably would have played longer if I had let him, but Allison wasn't quite bog enough and got bored.

 After the tractor we headed to the small petting zoo. Alden took this picture all by himself and was so proud of it that it had to be included on the blog.

 This maze made out of hay bales was the perfect size for kids. It was even better when we were in the middle and Alden had to go to the bathroom because we just climb over top to get out faster.

 And the final stop was this giant corn box (a sandbox made out of corn kernels).

 It was so much fun Allison decided to try out swimming.

It's a girl

There are no pictures to go with this post because the ultrasound tech didn't actually put the pictures on the jump drive like she thought she did and we don't have a scanner to scan in the actual print out of the ultrasound, but we are still so excited to announce that Peterson baby #2 is going to be a girl! We can't wait to see the difference between raising a boy and a girl and pray that she will be as much of a daddy's girl as Alden is momma's boy.

Dane's Wedding

Cassidy's brother Dane finally got married on October 4, 2014.  We say finally because Dane said he was never going to get married and then he met Krista about a month later. It was a beautiful day with a beautiful service that included a baby blessing too. It was so exciting to welcome Krista in to the family officially because we love her so much already.

The wedding took place just south of Springville in a barn that was built for special occasions. Luckily though they kept the animals near by. Alden enjoyed playing with the cows, chickens, and kittens while we waited for different things to happen.

 Finally pronounced husband and wife. Dane was so excited he kissed Krysta before the ceremony was over because he thought you may now kiss the bride was the next part.

 In front of the barn there was one of these from the old McDonald's play places. All of the kids had blast playing in it.

 In fact it looked like so much fun that even the bigger kids tried to get in on it.

 After playing in the hamburger, taking pictures, and blowing bubbles at the chicken we had a delicious dinner before the happy couple cut the cake.

 With four kids I imagine newly wed life is a little different for them than it was for us, but they still seem incredibly happy and we couldn't be any happier for them.

BYU Football 2014

We go to one BYU game a year with LaWayne and this is a tradition that we love. This year we went to a pretty late game (8:15) so sadly Alden spent the night with grandma and grandpa instead of coming along. This year we also went a little earlier and checked out the tailgating. It was great. I got a free long sleeve t-shirt, black stickers to put under my eyes, and we got to play a giant game of connect four which I won.  Too bad the rest of the night didn't go as well as tailgating.

 We played Utah State and the game started out great. There were three sky divers that landed on the field which was pretty fun to see. BYU scored on their first possession, we saw a ref get injured so badly the game stopped and he was helped to the locker room, never saw that before.

 And then our quarterback got injured and there went the game. We ended up losing pretty badly, so badly I have chosen not to remember the final score and I am not willing to look it right now either. This is the first time we have gone to a game and had our team loose so we aren't really sure how to handle it. On the bright side though, they retired Jim McMahon's number that night so half time was pretty fun to watch.

Thanks for coming with us LaWayne and sorry we couldn't get a win, but next year will be better and we always enjoy spending time with you.

Sam and Jason's visit

Cass' brother Jason and his wife are trying to move to Utah. Laura transferred to American with her job about a month before these pictures were taken so Jason and Sam come down about every other weekend so they can spend time together as a family while Jason is still trying to sell the house and settle a few things in Idaho. It will be nice when they all live here, but for now we enjoy getting to see them a lot more often. To celebrate we took Sam and Jason to some of our favorite nearby places. First stop was Kangaroo Zoo a place full of giant inflatables.  Alden and Sam had a blast and thoroughly wore each other out.  Just look at how much fun they had.

There were a couple of birthday parties going on while we were there so the kangaroo came out to say hi. Sam loved him and followed him all over the place with the biggest smile on her face.

They followed each other around all night and had to do everything together.

The next day we took the to Discovery Gateway because they had never been. It is fun to see what interests Alden every time we go. They played on these little ride on toys for quite a while.

 Then Sam found a bigger ride in toy while Alden played in the bird nest.

 Upstairs they both really got in to these building blocks that Alden has never touched before.

 And of course had to stop and play tractors.

 

We love this place and will be sad when our membership expires at the end of the year, but we certainly enjoyed making memories with Sam and Jason.
