A full weekend

It was a busy weekend in Utah so there are a couple of things going on in this post we hope you can keep up :)  Starting things off is a picture history of Randi's baby belly.  We are at 31 weeks now so not much longer to go.

Next up a baby shower.  Cassidy's brother and sister-in-law were in town this weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving a little earlier (they both have to work the day after Thanksgiving so we had dinner on Saturday with them).  Laura is also expecting their first child about 7 weeks after Randi so while they were in town Cassidy's family threw a combined baby shower.  All of the sisters and most of the cousins from Cassidy's mom's side of the family came as well as Cassidy's dad's mom.  It was a good time of just talking, lots of eating, and more presents than expected.  Here are some pictures of the shower.

Carolyn and here daughters made us each a quilt.  We also got a pack-n-play, swing, clothes, gift card, and diapers.  The family was so generous and we appreciate it all. 

This picture is just because Laura hates having her picture taken and hates even more to have it shown to other people :)

Final story of the post is the Ward Turkey Shoot.  Cassidy got put in charge of an Elders quorum this last Saturday. A few of them went out east of Utah Lake and did some skeet shooting. 

Over all we spent three hours shooting and went through 4 boxes of clay pigeons.

While Cassidy did not win he did tie for fourth place and got a cornish game hen. He shot an 18 out of 20 while the winner had a perfect score and got a turkey.

All in all we had a blast even with the snow storm the night before.

The Last November

We have agreed that this was our last trip to Las Vegas in November. For those who remember our last year's trip, we got caught in a snow storm and spent an extra night in Cedar City. Well once again we ended up coming home a day later than expected, but this time it was car trouble.  Before I get to our last day of adventure let me tell you about the great weekend we had with the Nortons and the Garcias.

Usually every November the Nortons have a guys weekend and well this was it. So Saturday when we got there Randi, Jerri, and LaWayne went out shopping and Brian, BJ, and Cassidy went to the Clark County Shooting Range and had a blast shooting some of Cass's guns.

Sorry no photos of the women and if you are wondering Rudy and Jamie were home entertaining the Garcia family.

Well I have to admit we did not make our way down to Las Vegas for a guys and girls weekend. The real reason why we all made the trip down to Las Vegas was for Jonathan's blessing.

The blessing went well, Rudy did a great job!

The rest of the Sunday was spent at the Garcia's house filled with food and playing games.

On our way home on Monday everything was going well. We said goodbye to everyone and we were off at a reasonable hour. After we made it about 40 miles out of Las Vegas our car started to lose power and the check engine light came on. We were lucky enough to make it to an exit with a casino and restrooms while we waited at least an hour and a half for the tow truck.

To make a long story short we ended up spending an extra night in Vegas to find out we just had a spark plug wire fail. 

After another great night spent with BJ, Jamie, and Rudy we got our car back on the road once again to Utah which went off without a hitch.

Jack-O-Lantern Peterson Style

Halloween was pretty low key at the Peterson house this year, but we did do a couple of things to celebrate the holiday.  We attended our ward Trick-or-Trunk on Halloween and ate hot dogs and gave out candy to all of the kids in the ward.  We forgot the camera though so no pictures.  The trick-or-trunk is done in a col-de-sac so you don't actually bring your car just lawn chairs and something to make your spot.  We brought two chairs and our carved pumpkin.  That we do have pictures of, so here you go all of our halloween pictures.

 

Cass didn't want to get any pumpkin on his fancy t-shirt and jeans so he wore an apron :)

Las Vegas (again)

Last weekend Cassidy had fall break so we headed to Las Veas with Aunt LaWayne to spend more time with this little guy.  We figured with fewer people around we would get to hold and play with him a little more than we did last time we saw him.  

We arrived on Friday and got to go to lunch with my dad before he headed back to Elko.  Then we just hung out at Jamie's house for the rest of the day.  Saturday morning Cass and I went to the Las Vegas LDS temple.  We also watched BYU destroy the ISU in football, watched the world series, and hung out with my friend Shawna who I forgot to take a picture with.

This trip also included some home improvement projects as well.  BJ wanted some curtains in his extra room hemmed so I brought my sewing machine and we had a fun time taking care of this decorating project.  BJ manned the iron, I manned the sewing machine, and Cass assumed the role of supervisor.

Then at Jamie's house I helped Jamie make bread.  Here is her nervous in the process face.  Apparently my mom and I make bread very differently.  Poor Jamie is very confused now.

Also while we were there BJ helped LaWayne buy a laptop.  She has been looking and wanting one for months now so it was a pretty exciting day when she finally purchased one.  Here are the IT boys helping her get things set up.

 

And finally there was just a lot of time with little Jonathan.  Jamie is making sure I have a lot of practice for Alden in January so I go to do this a few times.

 It was worth it when he would snuggle up and go to sleep while you were holding him.

Road Tripping

I hadColumbus Day off work and Cass doesn't have class on Monday's so we had an entire day to hang out.  What do you think we did with this extra day together?  We went to Price, UT!  Price is a little more than an hour away from American Fork and Cassidy's family were some of the early settlers of the area so we went to see the Peterson Family Cemetery. This was my first time there and I was actually pretty impressed with the little cemetery even if we did have to park in a lumber store parking lot walk along the fence and then sneak through a gate to get to this little piece of history :)

  

 This is a view from one end.  It looks kind of sad in this picture, but the little cemetery is actually pretty well maintained.  We took pictures of all of the headstones and then talked with Cassidy's parents the other night to learn about each person and how they are related to us.  It has been pretty fun to learn about our ancestors.

This headstone is Cassidy's great great grandparents.  His dad is named after this grandpa.

After the cemetery we wanted to do something else to make the drive worth while.  Price is a pretty small town, but there is a dinosaur museum and that is where we ended up.  Half of the museum is dinosaurs and the other half is native cultures.  Here is Cass in his dream home :)

 I loved the giant mammoth mostly for the skeleton on the left that is trying to kill it with spears.  For some reason I still laugh every time I look at it.

 In the dinosaur side they had places you could dig for your own bones.  I think I discovered something very rare in this sandbox :)

 Cass enjoyed the bigger sandbox more.  

 That was Monday and Friday we headed out on another quick trip to Wendover, NV and eventually on to Elko.  We stopped in Wendover to go to the Trace Adkins concert.  We bought tickets months ago and were so excited that if finally came.  The 1000 seat concert hall is very intimate and we learned that Trace Adkins is a really funny guy.  He interacted with the audience a ton and had a lot of funny stories that he told as he made fun of some of the audience members.

Do I look pregnant yet, Lori?  After the concert it was a shorter drive to Elko than back to our house so we went to spend the weekend with my parents.  Sorry no pictures.  We didn't do anything too exciting just relaxed watching baseball and football and talking about everything we need to do financially to get ready to be parents.  Thanks mom and dad for another great weekend!
