ELKO!

Just a heads up this post has a lot of pictures, but we did a lot of things when we were in Elko this weekend visiting my parents.  We had a very good friend of ours return from his mission and speak in church on Sunday so it was a good excuse for the whole family to get together.  Jamie and BJ came from Las Vegas and we came from Utah.  On Friday when we arrived we went to the new California Trail Interpretive Center just west of Elko with Mom.  It just opened last year and she has been really excited to take us.  It turns out it was a really fun place.

 There were a lot of interactive things to do at the museum.  Cass pushed this wheel a mile (I helped a little).

 We colored some impressions and not pictured we packed our wagons.

 Grandma and Alden visited a campsite.

 And Alden found a wagon just his size.  Isn't he soooo cute!

 That night was Mom and Dad's 33 anniversary so we celebrated big by going to the Star.  It is the best basque restaurant in town and Cass had never been so it was great for two reasons.  Don't worry the food did not disappoint :)

 

 BJ, Shawna, Jamie, Rudy, and Jonathan got in to town after we had gone to bed on Friday, but Saturday morning we were up bright and early to do some yard work.  The men cut down a couple of dead trees in the back yard.

 Jamie and I took our turns on the chain saw too.  It was great to feel so powerful.  Mom and Shawna cooked pretty much all day for the bbq that night.

 Then the bird poop was power washed off the deck.

 And the little boys enjoyed the new pool.  Jonathan splashed a lot and both had a great time playing with each other.

 We also had a ladder ball tournament.  BJ and Shawna won, sadly I have now been defeated this summer.

 Alden also got to eat outside like the rest of us.

 On Sunday the Johnsons came over for breakfast before church.  Sadly I did not take nearly as many pictures of this as I should have.  Kya wanted to Alden.  Isn't she cute :)

 They had had a long night and early morning so there was some napping after breakfast. 

 This is the only picture I took of Steven.  He is on the right.  He did awesome on his talk in church and we are excited that he is home.

 After church the Alden and Jonathan played a little more before the Las Vegas folks had to head home.  They are holding hands in this picture, too fun.

 Do you think my dad likes being a grandpa?  Yeah we don't think so either :)

 One last picture together. I hope these two enjoy each other this much as they grow older.  I think they are best friends already.  We headed home Monday after lunch and enjoyed every minute we had together as a family.  You definitely appreciate these moments more as you get older.  We are grateful to have two good families that get along and enjoy being together.  Can't wait for the next time.
